WCAG Audit Service FAQs

An accessibility audit is where someone manually goes through your website and looks for accessibility issues under WCAG 2.0/2.1/2.2. A typical accessibility audit cost per page ranges from $150 to $500 and there are various factors that will impact the cost like consulting, VPAT, follow-up audit, training etc. There is no one-size-fits-all cost for WCAG audit services; this needs to be tailored for each customer depending on the application being assessed.

To simplify estimating the cost of an accessibility audit, we developed an accessibility cost calculator that offers a high-level overview of the expenses involved in achieving WCAG compliance for your website.

Additionally, we’ve provided a detailed cost breakdown of our accessibility services on our pricing page.

The timeline of a web accessibility audit depends on the size and complexity of the website. A small website may take a few days to audit, while a larger website with more complex functionality may take several weeks.

The time of delivery for each WCAG audit The time of delivery for each WCAG audit depends on factors such as the number of pages, number of components, and whether it is a website, web application, or mobile application. After a web accessibility audit, the organization will receive a detailed report of findings and recommendations for remediation. The organization can then work to implement the recommended changes to improve the accessibility of their website.

After the remediation fixes are implemented for the issues identified during the audit, a validation is performed to ensure that all fixes are working as expected and meet WCAG conformance. Depending on the client’s request, a conformance statement such as VPAT or an accessibility statement is prepared.

At DigitalA11Y, we deliver the accessibility audit report in an Excel format, which will contain the following details:

  1. Executive summary – an overview of the audit results and key findings.
  2. Introduction – background information about the audit and its purpose.
  3. Methodology – details about the audit methodology, including tools and techniques used.
  4. Scope and limitations – a description of the audit’s scope and any limitations that may have impacted the audit results.
  5. Detailed findings – a detailed list of all accessibility issues found during the audit, along with recommendations for remediation.
  6. Prioritization of issues – an assessment of the severity of each accessibility issue found, with a recommended prioritization for remediation.
  7. Compliance status – an assessment of the website’s compliance with relevant accessibility standards, such as WCAG 2.2.
  8. Conclusions and recommendations – a summary of the audit findings and recommendations for remediation.
  9. Technical appendix – a detailed technical report that includes information about each accessibility issue found, including code snippets and screenshots.

When selecting a web accessibility audit service provider, look for a provider with experience in accessibility testing and compliance, knowledge of accessibility guidelines and regulations, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality accessibility audits.

It is not feasible to perform a manual website accessibility audit on an entire website. Our accessibility audit specialists will usually work with you to identify exactly which pages to check, but start by putting a sample together to give them an idea of what’s on your
website. Your sample should include:
• Your site’s homepage
• Content pages that are mostly text based
• Images, video and audio content
• Interactive tools and transaction, like forms
• Pages including login functionality, if your website has them
• PDFs and other document types you have
• Dynamic content like pop-up windows
• Navigation pages, including your sitemap and pages with search functionality

At DigitalA11Y, we use a combination of automation and manual accessibility testing methods to perform an accessibility audit and generate a report. We do not rely solely on automation testing as it only catches 30% of accessibility issues.

At DigitalA11Y, accessibility audits are performed by IAAP-certified accessibility specialists. Our subject matter experts have various certifications, such as DHS Trusted Tester, CPACC, WAS, and others. In addition to industry recognitions, our accessibility audit specialists bring more than 10 years of industry experience, where they have led accessibility audits for large organizations.

Yes, we have people with disabilities who perform accessibility audits and are also part of user testing activities. We recognize that people with disabilities have unique perspectives and experiences that can help us identify and address accessibility barriers that might otherwise go unnoticed.
